A Whistler, B.C., lady has been hit with a $60,000 positive after feeding bulk produce to bears over the course of 1 summer time.
The B.C. Conservation Officer Service says it launched an investigation in July 2018 after studies of an individual feeding black bears.
The service discovered a resident had been deliberately feeding bulk produce — together with as much as 10 instances of apples, 50 kilos of carrots and as much as 15 dozen eggs — all through the summer time.
The service linked the feeding to a few bears it needed to kill in September 2018 after the animals destroyed property and confirmed no concern of people.
Conservation officer Sgt. Simon Gravel says the positive is precedent setting and the service hopes the big sum deters others from feeding animals.
The majority of the positive has been ordered to go to the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
